Angie?” He paused after saying her name. She liked how it sounded when he said it. “I’m Hector. Are you going in?” Hector’s eyes moved down her body making her knees weak. Angie pushed her hair behind her ear and shook her head.

“I’m about to go for a run, Hector, but I might swim later.” Angie said. She liked saying his name too much.

“Well, you would look amazing in a swimming suit.” Hector winked and then walked away making her heart race as she caught a perfect view of his tight ass. He glanced over his shoulder, catching her staring at him, a blush burned into her chest and cheeks. Angie turned and raced toward the front door and out into the blistering cold.

  CHAPTER FOUR

  Hector

“HECTOR, WHERE ARE YOU going?” Zac yelled across the lobby from behind the front desk. Hector’s wolf wouldn’t calm the fuck down since he first caught sight of Angie’s little ass jogging out of his friend’s hotel.

“I’ll be back in an hour.” Hector grabbed his phone and waved it. He sent Zac a text about going on a run before lunch. He lifted his nose to the air, catching Angie’s fading scent. The wind created a problem for his superior tracking skills. If the scent blew away he might lose her.

Angie... She looks like a fucking innocent virgin. He had no idea if she acted like a virgin on purpose, but he liked the idea of being her first.

Something about her amber eyes and long chocolate brown hair made his wolf excited and the bastard barely perked up for the women he normally chased like Pepper. Pepper had a narrower body while Angie had nice curves and a big ass. He wouldn’t say he had a type when it came to women, but something in Angie’s perky tits and doe eyes made him hard. About twenty yards ahead, Hector caught site of Angie standing in the snow with her arms above her head. He wondered if she truly was innocent or if it was just an act. He normally didn’t do virgins but if he had a chance with Angie, he might make an exception. She’d be a nice fuck to take me out of this rut.

“What are you doing here?” Angie’s sweet voice met his ears with the help of the wind. A male moved into Hector’s sight and reached for Angie but she moved back.

“I’ve been following you since Georgia. You’re so unique my sweet Angie.” The male voice reached him making his wolf growl in response. She is mine! His wolf itched to get out and tear the other male to shreds but his human side just kept a steady pace toward her. If she faced trouble he would help her, if not he would turn around and leave once he was sure. He’d do his best to forget he ever saw those beautiful brown eyes and soft curves. Hector shook his head and kept moving forward, all the while hoping the wind wouldn’t shift and give his presence away. He wouldn’t put himself in the middle of a lover’s spat. Life’s too fucking short.

“What do you want, Tea? I told you before I can’t be with you. You’re a werewolf and I can’t give you pups.” Her words caught Hector off guard making him stop and listen. He wondered how she knew werewolves called their young pups as most human females called them babies. Why wouldn't she be able to have pups? His wolf wondered and urged him to move forward. I’m just curious, nothing else.

“You don’t know, Angie. All you have to do is finally touch me and see if we imprint.” Tea sounded weak to Hector. No male should have to beg for a female’s touch.

“What happens if we don’t? Will you leave me alone or will you turn me in?” Angie snapped back. Tea lunged forward and grabbed her wrists. Even from this distance he knew an imprint bond didn’t happen between them when they didn’t shake. This gave his wolf some hope. “Get your hands off me.” Angie growled.

“You will be mine. Imprint or not.” Tea leaned in closer as if he might kiss her. Hector had reached his limit, he rushed up behind Tea and yanked him away from Angie, who in turn stumbled and fell into the deep accumulating snow. His wolf paced in his mind. There wasn't much to the scrawny wolf and Hector towered over him.

“The lady said you should leave.” Hector growled and then tossed Tea into the snow. His blue eyes widened in shock for a moment as he landed on his ass. “Here,” he said as he extended his hand to help Angie to her feet.

“Thank you but I can manage on my own. Don’t need another disappointed werewolf.” Angie struggled to her feet and glared at Tea. “You should go back home and find your mate. She’s there, I’m almost sure of it.”

“You’re my mate!” Tea yelled, his black hair whipped into his face, and tried to move closer but Hector stopped him.

“Take a step closer and you’ll lose a fucking limb.” Hector grabbed his arm to keep him in place.

“This isn’t your business. Now go fuck off.” Tea tried to yank his arm from Hector’s grip but the scrawny wolf wasn’t strong enough.

“Unless she tells me to fucking leave, then I’ll stay here and make sure you’re gone.” Hector grabbed the male’s neck and brought his face to be at the same level as his. “Leave before my big wolf comes out to play.” He tossed Tea on his ass again and waited to see what the bastard did. After a moment of glaring at them both, Tea finally stood and walked away. Good boy.

“You didn’t need to do anything, but thank you.” Angie brushed the snow from her legs and then met his gaze. “Why are you here?” She placed a hand on her hip. “Why would you care enough?” She raised her other hand up to keep her long brown locks out of her face.

“It’s not important. Would you like to go back and grab a cup of coffee?”

“I don’t like coffee.” Angie sighed after a moment of silence broken only by the wind. “I like tea and hot chocolate. The second sounds amazing right about now.”

“Awesome. I know a great place we can go.” Hector couldn’t help the smile from taking over his face.

“You can meet me in the lobby in fifteen minutes. I need to warm up.” Angie turned and headed back to the hotel. He liked looking at her ass as she walked. Oh, I wonder if I’ll be her first lover. The idea made his cock grow even harder. I’ll ruin her for everyone else if it’s true.

  CHAPTER FIVE

  Angie

“WHAT THE HELL AM I doing?” Angie leaned against the door after she walked into her hotel room. Her heart raced and her body was heated in ways she never knew were possible. She allowed herself a moment of panic before she stood and strolled into the little bathroom to fix her makeup and wind tousled hair. Agreeing to go anywhere with Hector was dangerous. Yet something about his bad wolf personality called to her. If he found out about her secret, he might turn her into the humans for testing. Angie had heard of a female like herself who died as a child from the strain of too much testing.

Angie shook the thought from her mind. Something about Hector intrigued her and she wanted to know more about him. He had, after all, saved her from her creepy stalker. If things reached a sticky point, she would return to her room, get her shit packed and run back to the airport. Sleeping in those chairs didn’t sound fun but she would rather take the safety of a place only certain people had access to.

Once she applied the finishing touches to her eyeshadow and lip tint she paused before placing the lip wand down. What am I doing?

“Ah hell. I’ll only live once. Plus, it’s my birthday after all.” She dabbed her lips and nodded at her appearance. Angie grabbed her key for the door and walked out with her small bag in hand. When she reached the end of the hall, Angie took another moment. Nerves tightened her stomach and made her heart rate pick up again. After a few deep breaths, she managed to keep herself from throwing up. She sighed and headed down into the lobby. Angie didn’t have to really look around to find Hector in his black long sleeve shirt and dark wash jeans. His intriguing gaze found her and she stopped dead in her tracks. The way he looked at her made her feel vulnerable.

Hector marched right toward her, hunger in his eyes as he crossed the small distance.

“Are you okay, Angie?” His voice came out smooth like honey.

“Yes, where are we going?” She pushed her hair behind her ear.

  “There
is a nice cafe up the road if you’re willing to leave the hotel.” Hector watched her closely and Angie considered her options.

“How far away?” Angie bit her lip. She desperately wanted to live her life without the constant fear of being discovered.

“A few miles north. I have a truck we can use.” Hector pointed at the entrance, she glanced in the direction he pointed, then back to his mischief eyes. Her mother’s voice came into her mind, don’t you leave the hotel!

“Give me a second.” She grabbed her phone and sent a text to her brother about her going out of the hotel with a guy.

‘Be safe Angie. Call if you need something. I have friends of friends up there.’

Angie read the message and smiled. She didn’t doubt her brother would drive the hundreds of miles to secure her safety if needed.

“Ready?” Hector asked. She had an urge to touch him. A part of her wondered if she might actually imprint with a werewolf or if she would be stuck searching for her true love like humans. Pushing back her envy of the entire werewolf species, she put a smile on her face.

“Yea, I’m ready.” Angie turned and followed him into the cold. He stopped at an old black pickup truck. Hector opened the door and offered his hand to help her in while the wind brought her spicy scent to her nose. Her gaze moved between his hand and his eyes for a full minute while the wind howled around them.

“We can still have fun if we don’t imprint.” A wicked grin crossed Hector’s face while one eyebrow rose.

“And what happens if I do imprint with you?” Angie avoided his extended hand and climbed into the pickup.

“Then we could have even more fun.” Hector closed the door and heat soared through Angie’s body. She had no idea what made her react so strongly. Hector climbed into the truck and turned over the engine.

“I wouldn’t be holding my breath on imprinting with me. It most likely won’t happen.” Angie pushed her hair out of her face from the darn wind and turned to Hector.

“Did you ever wonder if I just wanted to have a good time?” Hector grinned. Yep, total bad boy through and through.

“Is that all you’re after?” Angie hated how his words stung, but she wouldn’t admit it aloud.

“We will see what happens.” He pushed the truck into drive and they were off to the cafe in silence. Angie couldn’t quite push her words out. It’s not like she was looking for something long term herself, but to completely dismiss it as if he knew they wouldn’t imprint confused the hell out of her. If she was honest, she wanted a strong werewolf as a mate and pups of her own to play with her niece and nephew. Sometimes she dreamt of a strong male sweeping her off her feet and loving her long into the night, then giving her a dozen pups to fill a home with laughter. Her eyes moved over to Hector and she wondered if he would be her wolf in shining armor. Who am I kidding? Hector’s more of a wolf in sheep’s clothes.

  CHAPTER SIX

  Hector

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG with you? Hector’s wolf growled and paced in his mind while Hector drove the pickup through the winter storm. As soon as he said the words, did you ever wonder if I just wanted to have a good time, he regretted them. The hurt in her soft eyes made his wolf howl with rage. He pulled the truck to a stop, which was dangerous in these kinds of conditions but if he didn’t calm his wolf down soon he might crash.

When he turned sixteen and moved into his own home, he became the player of the pack, never dating any female longer than a week and never getting attached, yet something about Angie made his wolf freaking crazy. She made his wolf get so worked up, Hector worried about losing his control. She didn’t have the scent of an ordinary human, there were definite hints of werewolf. He wondered if that was why she worried about imprinting?

“Listen, I can take you back if you want.” Hector glanced in the rear-view mirror, but no one came into view. His wolf pushed to be closer to Angie.

“I don’t know.” Angie sighed. His wolf urged him to lean over and see if it was right, to see if Angie was truly his mate. Over the last few minutes he had been testing his barrier to get out and rub up against Angie.

“Look...” Hector started, the air left his lungs. The pickup jolted forward. Angie’s screams filled the cab. His foot hit the brakes. Can’t fucking break on ice! The road dropped off. A deep ditch welcomed the pickup against Hector’s wish. The front end slammed into the cold, unforgiving ground. He lurched forward. Angie went silent.

He counted his blessings since the truck didn’t roll over. His old truck could only handle so much of a beating. Hector unclicked his belt sending him into the steering wheel. If he didn’t heal like a wolf, the bruises forming in his gut would last weeks instead of hours.

“Angie?” He looked over at her limp body, her arms dangling in front of her. “I need you to wake up.” He leaned toward her, metal screeched like it wanted to move and the scent of fuel met his nose. Shit! He grabbed her arm and the ripple of the imprint ran under his skin.

“Well fuck.” He shook her arm to try and wake her. Damn! My wolf was right, she’s my mate. The screeching grew louder and a second crash sounded. The pickup tipped over onto its top sending Hector’s head into the roof. Hints of smoke blew into the cab through the air vents. The scent of a fire reached his nose sending his wolf into a panic state. Hector took in a shuddering, cold breath and moved over to Angie. He held her as best as he could at this odd angle and pushed the release button for her seatbelt.

The little red button didn’t move, and he cursed his luck. He gripped the belt above the buckle and shredded the material sending Angie’s limp body into his. Hector managed to barely save her from hitting her head before he kicked the passenger door open. The glass had broken on impact but snow had taken the place of the window and the door didn’t budge against the compact snow. Hector adjusted his grip on Angie and kicked the windshield. He gently placed her on the snow and then climbed out of the smoking truck.

Angie’s eyes fluttered open as he picked her up again and moved away from the wreck.

“Are you okay?” Hector looked her over, cuts and scrapes littered her body from the broken windows. “I mean you’ll heal, right?” Her scent was too similar to a wolf not to be able to heal. Right?

“I’m not a full werewolf, Hector. I can’t shift so I don’t heal like you.” Angie’s weak voice sent a chill down his body.

“What do you mean you can’t shift?” Hector hated the panic in his voice.

“I was born to a wolf mom but a human dad. My brother can shift but I never did.” She swallowed hard and her eyes were unfocused. “My brother wanted to just bite me and force my wolf out but my mother never agreed. She didn’t want to risk my life.”

She closed her eyes and took in a sharp breath. “Imprinting is a good birthday present though.” A half smile lifted her pale lips. Hector looked around but no sirens sounded near them. The white pickup that had slammed into them held bits of paint from Hector’s pickup, but the occupants seemed unharmed in their warm truck. Hector couldn’t blame them for the crash. If he hadn’t stopped it wouldn’t have happened.

He picked her up holding her close to him to keep her warm and moved back down into the ditch. Carefully he set her down and moved back. Hector undressed quickly and then let his wolf out. The snow clung to his fur, but the cold had never bothered him.

Angie grabbed his neck and gave him a short nod. Before he changed his mind, he sunk his teeth into her left arm. The taste of cotton covered his tongue, but he knew he pierced her flesh when she jerked in his mouth. Hector let go instantly and stepped away.

His wolf shoved his nose against Angie’s cheek, catching her warm scent of flowers and grass. Her body vibrated in the cold snow and Hector forced his wolf to move back to give her space. Every fiber of his being needed her to shift into a wolf so she would be healed. Hector shifted and haphazardly pulled on his clothing while keeping his focus on Angie.

He could lose her all because he pulled off to the side of the road.<

If he lost her, he worried about turning into a worse version of his mother.

“Come on Angie, shift for me.” His voice was smaller than he liked, and a thought hit him. What if she didn’t actually shift and his bite killed her even faster than her injuries?

  What have I done?

  CHAPTER SEVEN

  Angie

WAS THIS DEATH? Why am I so fucking cold and hot all at once? Which didn’t seem to make sense. Below her, the cold ground was covered in thick snow, with more coming from the sky, covering her body in a sheen of flakes. Yet her body burned from the inside out and pain radiated from her left arm. Her muscles twitched throughout her body.

“Shit, your clothes.” Hector’s voice seemed so far away like down a tunnel. Another wave of cold ran through her flesh as her pants were yanked off her, followed by her coat, leaving her in her T-shirt and under garments. Hands moved over her belly as fur sprouted from her flesh.

Wait, I’m shifting. I’m getting my wolf! A wave of relief filled her soul for a split second before her bones broke and grew longer. Fur covered her entire body, and she rolled over into the snow to keep from screaming out in pain. How did he deal with this pain? She recalled Aiden shifting all the time.

She opened her eyes when the pain stopped, Hector’s worried face filled her vision and the urge to lick him took over. Her tongue ran along his soft skin and he tasted like sweat and fear making her rub her nose against him.

“Oh, thank goddess you’re alive.” On Hector’s bare chest was a tattoo, another on his left arm, she didn’t notice before. Then her gaze caught his thick muscles. Words escaped her on what to call the rows of strong muscles which formed his abdomen. Sexy as hell barely managed to touch how beautiful they were and when she looked back up, his heartbeat met her ears.
